NaNoWriMo

A badge for winners of the 2011 national novel writer contestI did it! In November 2011, I wrote over 50,000 words of a scifi novel, a postmodern response to ‘What to Expect When You are Expecting’.

(Name TBA: I know what it is NOW, an editor or publisher might have something to say about it in the future. I’ll share the name journey when my original choice has been properly filed in the proper places for proper protection).

To say the book is finished is a gross misunderstanding between my current self and my future self.

I have a long, long way to go before this thing sees the light of day. It took me almost two months to say, out loud,

“I’ve written a book”.

But I have! For years I have said, “I’m writing a book”. And I was. But I put that one aside to work on NaNoWriMo and I’m glad I did. FYI: the rules of NaNoWriMo ask that you start from scratch on Day 1 with no more than an outline and a few character sketches and that’s what I did with the help of this software worth every single penny >> Scrivener.

My other book is near and dear to my heart but it needs more time to percolate. Don’t worry my precious ladies in peril, I haven’t forgotten about you!

More to come…
